INVESTJIGAWA HOSTS A TWO-DAY MEETING TO HARMONISE THE STATE’S LAND ACQUISITION AND RESETTLEMENT FRAMEWORK (LARF) AND FRAMEWORK FOR RESPONSIBLE AND INCLUSIVE LAND-INTENSIVE INVESTMENT IN AGRICULTURE (FRILIA)

On 20th and 21st August 2024 InvestJigawa, under the leadership of Furera Isma Jumare, hosted a two-day meeting to harmonise Jigawa State’s Land Acquisition and Resettlement Framework (LARF) and the Framework for Responsible and Inclusive Land Intensive Investment in Agriculture (FRILIA).

The meeting was led by Umar Muhammad, who under then DFID’s GEM# programme was party to the development of the LARF. It also brought together representatives from relevant MDAs; Ministry of Land, Housing, Urban Development and Regional Planning, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The discussions revolved around ensuring that the final framework will align agricultural investments in the State with best practice, social and environmental sustainability, and address the needs of affected communities
